How Our Top 10 Lists Are Organized

Note: As of December 2018 and due to time demands, I am no longer publishing monthly Top 10 lists. Any future articles of this kind will be published on an intermittent basis.

1990 Upper Deck Heroes Reggie Jackson AU

The goal of these lists is to provide education on what’s popular right now. Emphasis is placed on variety and/or non-obvious high sales (when applicable).

The lists are compiled with a few simple guidelines:

  • What: eBay Completed Sold Listings
  • Format: Auction Style Listings Only (Done to gauge market interest)
    • Update 2/2018: Any
  • Selection: Top 10 Highest End Prices
    • Editor’s Choice Edition: The selection consists of publisher favorites regardless of price.
    • 1990s Edition: Update 3/2018: After some months of preparing these lists, I’ve witnessed the same cards being listed in consecutive months. The trend appears to be buy-slab-resale. Since noticing this, I’ve made it a point to be even more scrutinizing with what cards get added each month. Our Top 10 Lists may not feature the 10 highest final value yielding auctions but they will feature 10 of the most popular auctions whereby through bidder activity, final sale value, and/or unicorn rarity. To that degree, these are in fact, top performing auctions.
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Parameters: No more than two cards of any one player are featured. (Added 4/2018)

The following is a breakdown of what’s included in and kept out of each Top 10 List.
