I believe the seller used the Epson Perfection V370 (or newer) scanner to produce these images. If you wanna produce gorgeous scans like these, I highly recommend grabbing an Epson Perfection. That aside, here are four Frank Thomas cards from the 1990s that sold in July 2023.

1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold: At the time of this writing, I still need the 1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Frank Thomas. I tried to arrange funds to grab this example but the end price just barely exceeded my cap so I had to watch it end without placing any bids. That’s okay; I’ll just have to enjoy this image while I wait for another opportunity.
1998 Bowman’s Best Mirror Image Fusion Atomic Refractor: A monster in its own right, the die cut and cracked ice appearance on these cards really makes them come to life in a way that’s tough to challenge aesthetically.

1999 Skybox Molten Metal Fusion Titanium: You have to go pretty far to find a more condition sensitive set from 1999 but it’s not impossible. This is one of those sets from the last year of the 1990s and comes with some really magnificent design features. The gold matte finish with holofoil and intricate die cuts issues an appearance that molds together style and class. Recent sales of even raw examples of this card have closed north of $3k.
1999 Skybox Premium Star Rubies: Considered by many to be some of the most beautiful cards issued during the 1990s, this inaugural Star Rubies parallel set has become a hobby favorite and as such has collected much more attention in recent years resulting in some record-setting prices that will undoubtedly continue to be broken as time passes.

Thanks for bringing light to these Shenanigans, it has long been suspected that Nugenix has been shill bidding on Frank Thomas cards to create a synergistic dynamic for both their product and their lead spokesman. The ebay sellers listed location is just off of I-80 in California while Nuqenix main office is just off of I-80 in Utah. Hopefully, ebay (or the FBI) is investigating these super outlier sales.
Hi Charles,
Thanks for the comment. No conspiracy theory needed. I know the seller; he’s reputable and not affiliated with Nugenix. These were legitimate sales.
Ok, thanks.
