2023 Finest Flashbacks ’96 Finest Autographs is a skip-numbered 33-card set issued in two styles, refractor, which we’ll call the base set, and superfractor. This set will seem nostalgic to many collectors who bought packs of 1996 Finest in 1996. It brings back the same subset designs, but adds the modern touch by featuring current and veteran players; some of whom were active players in 1996. It’s a beautiful set aesthetically albeit somewhat pricey depending on the player and style.
As for the depicted Frank Thomas Frank Thomas 2023 Finest Flashbacks ’96 Finest Autographs Superfractor, I watched it and considered participating, but just couldn’t do it. However, chronicling its existence here is plenty enough for me to be satisfied. Unfortunately, I can’t keep up with the amount of amazing Frank Thomas cards that are issued every year, so I have to find other ways to enjoy them, which is where articles like this come in handy. I like that this set used numerical card numbers instead of a run of letters, hyphens, and numbers. It keeps things simple enough and in closer alignment with how 1996 Finest was produced. I appreciate that.
