2000 Pacific Prism can be a confusing issue to tackle. Use this guide to identify what you have and what you need. Proof scan courtesy of Rick Hirst. The following are details of each parallel.
- Base: This is the standard issue card and comprises the 150-card 2000 Pacific Prism set. Packs contain 5 cards and at the time of release (April 2000) carried a $2.99 SRP.
- Drops Silver: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. Fifty star players in the set carry print runs of 916, while the remaining 100 cards carry print runs of 799. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Rapture Silver: These were inserted into hobby packs. 916 sets were produced. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Pebbly Dots: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. 691 sets were produced. Some players are perceived to be printed in lesser quantities. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Rapture Gold: These were inserted into retail packs. 565 sets were produced. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Slider Silver: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. Three groups of these were made, and depending on which group the card is in its serial number is either 334, 448, or 565. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Holographic Gold: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. 480 sets were produced. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
- Texture Silver: These were inserted into retail packs. 448 sets were produced. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Tinsel Silver: These were inserted into hobby packs. 331 sets were produced. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Woodgrain Silver: These were inserted into retail packs. 331 sets were produced. Serial numbers aren’t printed on the cards.
- Holographic Mirror: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. 160 sets were produced. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
- Holographic Purple: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. 99 sets were produced. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
- Holographic Blue: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. 80 sets were produced. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
- Premiere Date: These were inserted into hobby packs. A noticeable Premiere Date logo is stamped into the cards. 61 sets were produced. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
- Proof: These were inserted into hobby and retail packs. These are printed on white vinyl based card stock with blank backs. Only 10 sets were produced making them the hardest parallels to find. Serial numbers are printed on the cards.
A parallel exists called Sheen Silver. 100 cards in the 150-card base set can be found with a Sheen Silver parallel. It’s a skip numbering thing which is why Frank Thomas as well as 49 other players don’t have a Sheen Silver parallel. Sheen Silver parallels don’t feature printed serial numbers and were printed in two separate 50-card groups. One group has a print run of 448 (card numbers within 42-79, and 111-150), while the other group has a print run of 565 (card numbers within 1-40, and 80-110). Card #41 is one of the 50 cards that didn’t get a Sheen Silver parallel.

I have a ken griffey vinyl proof card #133 and 4 of 10 on front, this card has been in a plastic slab since opening the pack in 2000, how can I find the value of this rare card, which is in a grade of 9 or 10 mint
Nice! That’s an excellent card to have. Due to the small print run, it may be difficult to identify the actual market value on a card like that even with the review of eBay Completed Sold listings. I suppose you could check comps on the paid version of WorthPoint.

Any info on the 2000 Prism Diamond Edition?
Hi Jim,
Diamond Editions are aftermarket releases. If you’re unfamiliar with that term, it means they are buybacks that got altered in some way, in this case stamped, and re-released back into the market by an unlicensed third party. They weren’t stamped by Pacific.
