Juan Soto is featured twice in the 2018 Topps Chrome set with card #HMT55 issued with an without a sticker autograph. The typical parallels exist with the superfractor predictably being the mother of them all. A month ago, the Juan Soto 2018 Topps Chrome Update Autograph Superfractor sold for nearly $80k and while it came with some serious competition, the sale hasn’t really been covered. Prices this high appear to be relatively common and they continue to rise. While I pay some attention to Juan Soto cards, I don’t actively search for his stuff. I only discovered the existence of this auction when a screenshot of its completion was shared on social media.

Card #HMT98 is the other Juan Soto card in 2018 Topps Chrome Update. While this card is slabbed at the highest grade, the lack of autograph and at least to some degree, the vertical orientation likely contributed to the significantly lower final sale price. But at just north of $12k, it’s no small purchase. Time will tell whether or not these were good long-term buys, but I have no reason to believe they weren’t.
