Much like any other set issued during the Junk Wax Era, 1988 Donruss was printed in massive quantities. However, 26 cards from 600-660 were printed in shorter supply than the others because they were pulled from printing sheets early on in the print run to make room for the 26 Bonus MVP cards. Cards 648-660 are more difficult to find than the other SPs. All of which are listed below. Card #600 is a checklist and it comes in two versions: A (578-BC26), and B (558-660).
Several cards in 1988 Donruss have two unique variations with different text shown on card backs. Here’s an example of the two unique variations of the Gregg Jefferies card:
- Common: Last line of text on the card back begins with the word, best
- Rare: Last line of text on the card back begins with the word, eventually
