It turns out a bad hair cut can compromise an entire team. So here’s the deal. Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for the banned substance, Clostebol, which is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid.
Apparently, Tatis took Clostebol as part of a medication to treat a case of ringworm caused by an infection from a haircut in June.1 Tatis didn’t bother checking with a Doctor before consumption, which eventually led to a positive test of the banned substance.2
The Tatis exit poses a serious problem for the San Diego Padres since they just secured Juan Soto in a massive prospect trade-off. It’s going to be difficult to win championships without Tatis. Many people are left in disappointment, fans, teammates, and collectors alike but the show must go on.
Speaking of collecting, just two months ago, PSA 10 examples of Fernando Tatis Jr.’s 2019 base Topps card fetched upwards of $180 but now they’re closing at around $30. Historically, steroids equals reduced investment values and no Hall of Fame, which is sad news for everyone.
