Some people get mad easily. Stay with me on this; I’ll explain.
On Friday, I found and bought a Ryne Sandberg 1996 Circa Rave for around $8. Then that night a friend offered me $100 then $200 for the card. I turned both offers down without hesitation. Throughout the rest of the weekend, the guy whose offers I turned down gave me a hard time and even called me names! No hard feelings on my end and I hope he’s not still mad at me.

Vintage:
A little trivia sometimes helps but usually, it’s just for fun. The seller of this PSA3 Dusty Baker/Don Baylor 1971 Topps RC had a price in mind and it appeared he wasn’t willing to budge. I said I’d pay it if he or one of his colleagues could provide the correct answer to a trivia question. Where I came up short was when I offered the opportunity for multiple attempts, when it should’ve just been one. Hey, I need to get something out of it too! After several attempts, the correct answer was finally provided. I actually walked away from the deal but came back on Sunday evening to grab the card. I was just messing around and the fellas who sold me this Dusty Baker/Don Baylor 1971 Topps RC are some of the coolest guys at the show.

Raw Baseball Highlights:
For reference, here’s a pic of the cards discussed in the video. These are my raw baseball highlights with the Rickey Henderson RC acquired at a smaller show the following weekend. It’s a rare occurrence to see a Kelly Mann card on the blog.

Key Pickup:
This Babe Ruth 1999 Upper Deck Century Legends Century Collection was in the back of a bargain box behind a few other random graded cards. I really couldn’t believe I’d found this card. The price tag was reasonable but because I bought this along with a sizable pile of other cards, I was able to get a few bucks off but the price was already very fair so I was completely happy with however the transaction went. This is the most significant pickup of the show and I’m so happy to add it to the collection. The guy who tallied me up asked if I was a re-seller; I just said I’m a collector, which is the truth.

Basketball & Football:
Over the past couple years, I’ve been getting into football cards. I picked up these two, which I think are really great additions. Someone at the show told me that Joe Flacco got some huge contract but ended up flopping shortly thereafter. Professional sports are incredibly difficult occupations so I really have no place to blame low performers. Just getting to that level in any capacity requires exceedingly rare skills. So really, I’m just excited to see these guys on cool trading cards.

In Conclusion:
Another Dallas Card Show has been recorded. One of the many things I love about this hobby is the people. I meet so many great people at these shows and each of them has stories to tell. We get to know each other and build friendships. The experience of sharing stories about cards with others while at a show is one of my favorites. Big shows like this one are perfect opportunities to do just that.
