Enos Slaughter’s professional baseball career spanned 19 years between 1938 and 1959 missing three years for Military Service (1943-45). In that time he collected 10x All-Star appearances, 4x World Series titles, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1985.1 His career statistics mimic those of guys like: Mark Grace, Bernie Williams, and Keith Hernandez (none of whom are in the Hall of Fame). His 1948 Bowman is generally considered his rookie card even though it was released 11 years (8 due to his 3 years in the military) into his career. His master collection contains 846 cards, which includes 8 cards released prior to 1948. He had four daughters, divorced 5 wives, and he passed away in 2002 at the age of 86.
